Video released in Volusia County nightclub shooting

Deputies search for gunman in Chevy Impala

HOLLY HILL, Fla. – A man was shot twice early Friday outside a Volusia County nightclub after arguing with another man, who remains on the loose, said deputies, who released video of the shooting.

Jeffrey Hanks, 35, was shot in the hand and leg around 4:20 a.m. outside Papis Bottle Club at 1376 N. Nova Road near Holly Hill.  He was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, deputies found Hanks on the ground outside the club and learned that the shooter left the scene in a black, late 1990s model Chevrolet Impala.

The gunman shot Hanks, who was walking with a group of friends, while leaning out the car, deputies said.  The shooter was described as a white man with a patch of dreadlocks atop his shaved head and gold caps on all his teeth.

Hanks had apparently argued with the shooter when they both left Daytona's Last Call, another club.

In video released Friday afternoon, the suspect is seen exiting Daytona's Last Call. He's wearing a white short-sleeve shirt and sunglasses.  The video also shows the suspect in the vehicle driving by the victim before the car backs up and the shooting occurs.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (386) 323-0151 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 888-277-TIPS.
