FHP: Woman threatens to blow up bus on Turnpike
Bus driver stops trooper on Florida's Turnpike to report woman, troopers say
LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was arrested by Lake County deputies on the side of Florida's Turnpike Monday night after her bus driver told deputies she was threatening to blow up the bus.
Michelle D. Gay, 39, was charged with making a bomb threat and disorderly intoxication and booked into the Lake County Jail on Monday night.
Florida Highway Patrol said a trooper was conducting a traffic stop at the toll plaza near mile marker 288 when the driver of an American Coach Lines motor coach stopped him and said a woman on his bus was making racial comments and threatening to blow it up.
Troopers said another passenger got off the bus and said the woman, later identified as Michelle Gay, was "extremely intoxicated."
The bus was evacuated and the bus was cleared as a precaution by the Lake County Sheriff's Office bomb squad. The bus was on its way from Atlanta to Orlando, troopers said.
