DELAND – This week saw the Clickorlando.com game of the week crew traveling once again up the I-4 corridor to Volusia county.
This week the Bulldogs of DeLand welcomed Local 6 and Clickorlando.com into Spec Martin stadium as they hosted the Spruce Creek Hawks. It was a mild night with light to moderate rain showers and a constant drizzle.
However, forgetting the rain and the humidity, tonight was the Jojo Kemp show, literally.
Scoring TD's is not a rarity for this senior running back from DeLand.
Kemp showed up to play along with his teammates as DeLand jumped out to a 13-0 lead going into the second quarter. Kemp had multiples TD's in this game and it is no wonder why he is the heart and soul of the Bulldogs offensive plan each game.
Spruce Creek could never find any rhythm on offense in the first nor second halves of play. The score would be 20-0 going into halftime, in favor of DeLand.
DeLand was in control of this game from the start it felt like, it was just not Spruce Creeks' night.
Bulldog QB Coleton Robinson made the right plays at the right time. WR Dantwan O'Neal had several "chain-moving" catches which kept drives alive for the Bulldogs.
DeLand has had a tough, unusual start and there was uneasy feeling coming into tonights game, a feeling of uneasiness.
However, DeLand at least for this week shut all the critics up with a nearly perfect game in every facet of the game. Defensively led by SR defensive linemen Steven Ospina, Patrick Ball and Matt Lambert.
DeLand would roll to a 37-0 victory.
DeLand now faces Dr. Phillips at home next week. DeLand has an even record of 2-2.
Spruce Creek, now sporting a 1-3 record welcomes Deltona next week at home.
