Police think argument led to shooting

SANFORD, Fla. – An argument led to a shooting Sunday near a Sanford school, police said.

The shooting happened at a house on 14th Street near Goldsboro Elementary School, not far from the Sanford Police Department.

Police said it's believed two men got into a verbal dispute, and one of them fired shots, hitting the other person.

"Actually, I heard it.  I got down after I saw sparks from a ricocheted bullet," Donald Hunter said.

The shooting victim was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery.  The suspected shooter was also taken to a hospital, police said.

No other details were known.
