Cops: Man confesses to sexually attacking woman in Deltona home invasion

Victim held at knifepoint and tortured for two hours

DELTONA, Fla. – A man was arrested Friday in connection with a home invasion in which a 32-year-old woman was tied up and sexually attacked at knifepoint for two hours inside her Volusia County home.

Nathaniel Medina Gutierrez, 23, was arrested in the home invasion, which occurred around 4 a.m. Friday on Chippendale Street near Waterfall Drive in Deltona.

The victim told deputies that she awoke to find the intruder inside her home and he tied her up, cut off her clothes with a pair of scissors, held her at knifepoint and tortured her for two hours.

The victim told authorities that her attacker told her that people were after him, and that her home was surrounded.

Volusia County deputies said Gutierrez confessed to the crime, and the woman's cell phone and the knife used in the attack were recovered.

According to deputies, a probation officer saw media coverage of the story and contacted authorities about Gutierrez, saying he should be checked out.

Deputies said a masked man climbed into the house after removing a window air conditioning unit.

The woman, who suffered a cut on her hand, was able to untie herself and went to a friend's house for help, deputies said.
