Teen arrested in case of missing University of Florida student

18-year-old Christian Aguilar missing since Thursday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Police in Gainesville say they've identified and arrested a person of interest in the case of a missing University of Florida student from Miami.

Police believe 18-year-old Christian Aguilar may have been a victim of foul play.

Police say 18-year-old Pedro A. Bravo says he had an altercation with Aguilar Thursday evening and left him in a parking lot in the 1900 block of Northwest 13th Street. Police arrested Bravo on Monday afternoon on a charge of obstructing justice. He was being held on $100,000 bail.

Bravo was previously being held under the state's Baker Act after making comments to police about wanting to harm himself.

Police say Aguilar may be disoriented or seriously injured and may not be able to seek help.

Aguilar's family left their home in Miami-Dade on Friday to join the search at the university along with police.

"I'm in agony right now," said Carlos Aguilar, the teen's father. "I know the longer it takes for finding my son, the chances are less for my son to survive."

Aguilar was last seen wearing a blue-gray hoodie and light-colored jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gainesville Police Department at 352-393-7659.
