Fatal crash investigated in DeLeon Springs
Driver at fault didn't have license, FHP says
DeLEON SPRINGS, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in DeLeon Springs that killed a 61-year-old woman.
The wreck happened around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday on Spring Garden Avenue at U.S. 17.
According to FHP, the driver of a 4-door Nissan lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center concrete median on US-17 while traveling southbound, hitting the front of a Hyundai in the northbound lanes.
The 61-year-old woman driving the Hyundai was killed in the crash. Her identity has not been released.
Troopers said the 27-year-old driver of the Nissan didn't have a driver's license. The man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Charges are pending against that driver.
