Deputies arrest air conditioning thieves in DeBary

Duo charged with 2 counts of grand theft in air conditioning thefts

DEBARY, Fla. – Many people in a DeBary neighborhood can exhale a breathe of fresh air after knowing that two Deltona men were found and both were charged with two counts of grand theft for stealing air conditioning units from two houses.

Nestor Ramos, 27, and Nicholas Walker, 25, were booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach, after they were tracked down by a K-9 team and arrested.

According the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, a neighbor heard the two men outside and called the deputies at about 2:43 a.m.to report the noises.

"Yeah, they're just helping themselves to everything," the 911 caller said. "Wow, these people are brave."

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a pickup truck with air conditioning units in its bed parked in the yard of the house on the corner of Wisteria Drive and Camelia Drive.

The two men were found hiding four blocks away by the K-9 team.

After further questioning, the deputies were able to determine that the other air conditioning unit found in the pickup truck came from a Dogwood Trail home.
