Man says he wanted to go to jail, stole can of 99-cent beer, Ocala police say

Man charged with 99-cent theft at convenience store

OCALA, Fla. – An Ocala man told police he purposely stole a 99-cent beer from a convenience store because he wanted to go to jail.

Ocala police said Robert Fabbro, 55, took the Busch beer from the cooler at the Stop and Shop on NE Eighth Avenue and left the store without paying Monday.

When approached by police Fabbro said that he took the beverage so he could go to jail.

Police said Fabbro is homeless.

Fabbro was charged with retail petit theft and taken to Marion County jail on $250 bond.
