Thief sets Orlando dollar store on fire

U.S. Post Office also damaged in fire

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange County deputies are searching for the person who broke into a dollar store late Monday and set it on fire.

Deputies received a burglar alarm call around 11:30 p.m. to the Dollar Star store, which is located near the Waterford Lakes Town Center.

After deputies arrived on scene, it was soon discovered that a small fire was burning inside the store.

Orange County Fire Rescue responded to put out the fire, but when firefighters were inside they found that the store had been broken into and ransacked.

The fire was extinguished before it spread, but firefighters said there was water damage to the store and a U.S. Post Office, which is located next door.

Detectives are looking at surveillance video to help them track down whoever was responsible for the burglary and fire.

The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
