Gang tip leads to Orange County school lockdowns
Several people being questioned, deputies say
ORLANDO, Fla. – The lockdowns have been lifted at two Orange County Schools after shots were fired in the area, according to the sheriff's office.
Pinar Elementary School and Chickasaw Elementary School were placed on a Code Red lockdown just before 3 p.m. on Friday.
The lockdown was lifted just before 4:30 p.m.
Deputies responded to the home on Colton Drive at 2:30 p.m. to investigate an anonymous tip of gang and other illegal activity.
The deputies surrounded the house and approached the front door and after knocking, two pit-bull dogs attacked the deputies, at which point a deputy fired upon the dogs killing them both, according to a report.
Around a dozen people ran from the house. Nine were detained and are currently being questioned.
