ORLANDO, Fla. – Two tropical waves have formed in the Atlantic Ocean, both of which are far from the United States.

No hurricanes have formed this season, and it's not clear if the waves will develop.
"We just have not had anything that has threatened us so far," said Local 6 meteorologist Elizabeth Hart, who added that the peak of hurricane season is mid-September.
One wave is located about 800 miles east of the Leeward Islands, but it's expected to encounter dry air and some shear.
"This is going to have trouble developing," Hart said.
The second wave is located near the western coast of Africa and has a 60 percent chance of developing over the next five days.
"It may become a depression, and beyond that, we could be looking at Tropical Storm Gabrielle," Hart said.
There's a 40 percent chance of rain in Orlando on Friday, with rain chances dipping to 30 percent over the weekend.
Highs will be in the low to mid-90s across Central Florida through Sunday.
