Local 6 Exclusive: Woman leads Florida troopers on high-speed chase, claims to be pregnant

Roxana Scott, 28, held without bond

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Local 6 has obtained dash cam video of a suspected drunken driver leading troopers on a high-speed chase through east Orange County, at times reaching speeds of 115 mph.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver, Roxana Scott, 28, also claimed to be pregnant before being arrested.

Scott is currently being held at the Orange County jail without bond on charges of driving under the influence and fleeing and eluding police.

According to her arrest affidavit, the pursuit took place while Scott was out of jail on bond for charges of driving on a suspended license.

Troopers say the chase began shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday morning. An officer noticed a 2009 Lincoln weaving in and out of lanes along Alafaya Trail. The car turned onto University Boulevard and later turned onto Rouse Road.

According to the report, when a trooper turned on his lights and sirens to pull over the car, Scott took off, heading south on Rouse at speeds near 100 mph.

Dash cam video shows the Lincoln running a red light and then turning onto Colonial Drive. There, the car hit speeds of 113 mph. The driver then ran another red light to turn onto Dean Road, topping out at speeds of 115 mph.

The pursuit came to a crashing end on Dean Road just south of University Boulevard when an FHP cruiser struck the Lincoln's rear bumper. The crash maneuver is a Florida Highway Patrol approved technique to end a pursuit. The Lincoln slid into the curb and flipped on its side.

After the crash, troopers say they found a bottle of Hennessey that was nearly empty inside Scott's car.

On the dash cam video, you can hear Scott tell troopers that she drank a cup of Hennessey, is pregnant and in pain.

Scott was then transported to a local hospital. According to her arrest affidavit, Scott's urine tested positive for cocaine and marijuana but was negative for pregnancy.

A few hours later, Scott was released from the hospital and booked into the jail.

Scott has an extensive traffic record dating back to 2005, with charges of careless driving, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and another fleeing and eluding case from March 2013.
