Lake Mary police attempt to get iPad video of George, Shellie Zimmerman dispute

Police say they have sent off iPad to forensics lab

LAKE MARY, Fla. – Lake Mary police tell Local 6 they have decided to attempt to extract the video from Shellie Zimmerman's shattered iPad in investigation into a domestic dispute between George and Shellie Zimmerman.

Officer Zach Hudson said on Friday the department has decided to get the video extracted from the iPad and has sent the pieces off for a forensics lab to try to get the video that Shellie shot of the fight.

The iPad was key evidence on if George Zimmerman assaulted Shellie Zimmerman, as she claimed, or if Shellie Zimmerman hit George Zimmerman with the iPad, as he claimed.

The device was severely damaged in the incident at the Lake Mary home, owned by Shellie Zimmerman's parents, and officials believe there is only a 5 percent chance they'll be able to access the video.

Last week, Hudson said they were unsure if the department would pursue getting the video for a misdemeanor charge.

The domestic incident came days after Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce and discussed her relationship with George Zimmerman during a TV interview.

Since being acquitted in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman has been pulled over twice for speeding and once for illegally tinted windows.

The same home where the incident occurred was also reported to be broken into on Thursday. George and Shellie Zimmerman both lived there at one time before their split.

Lake Mary is located about 20 miles north of Orlando and 5 miles southwest of Sanford, where Zimmerman fatally shot Martin.
