Trailer overturns in Clermont crash, critically injuring woman
Teen also suffers serious injuries in 3-vehicle wreck
CLERMONT, Fla. – A woman was critically injured and a teen suffered serious injuries Friday morning when a tractor-trailer crashed into a car in Lake County and the trailer fell onto her vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The woman, whose name and age were not released, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center after the crash, which occurred around 8:30 a.m. on County Road 455 at Buckhill Road.
The teen, identified as 19-year-old Mark Thibodeau, of Clermont, was also taken to ORMC, troopers said.
According to the FHP, Thibodeau drove his Honda Civic into the intersection and the driver of the big rig, which was hauling sand, swerved to miss him but struck the left side of the car.
The impact caused the trailer to overturn and fall on top of a Subaru, crushing it and injuring the woman, troopers said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
