Tips to avoid sun glare behind the wheel

ORLANDO, Fla. – Local 6 has compiled some tips on how to deal with sun glare behind the wheel.

Sun glare is the worst for drivers 15 minutes after sunrise and 15 minutes before sunset impacting drivers in the morning and evening commutes.

According to meteorologist Troy Bridges, sunrise is 7:23 a.m. and sunset is 7:02 p.m.

Drivers will deal with impact of sun glare headed eastbound in the mornings on State Road 408 and Interstate 4 and westbound for drivers in the evening.

Sun glare is the worst during the fall and spring equinox.

Here are some tips for avoiding sun glare:

  • Clean the inside and outside of your windshield during this time
  • Increase your following distance and slow down
  • Use sun visors or sun glasses when sun glare is extreme.
