2 hurt in Cocoa shooting, 1 arrested

3 people being questioned; 1 arrested

COCOA, Fla. – The search is on for the suspects who shot two people at an apartment complex in Cocoa, forcing the evacuation of dozens of people.

It happened outside the Village Greene Apartments near Dixon and Amherst Circle Monday night. Cocoa Police say so far, they've detained three men for questioning, arrested one of them, and a fourth suspect is still on the loose.

Kyle Beavers said he heard the gunshots from his apartment.

"It was quick, I heard pop, pop, pop, just three handguns at once, going off," said Beavers. "It just sounded like a war zone."

Sky 6 was over the scene and cops swarmed the complex after responding. Officers say two males were hit by gunfire. One man was shot in the stomach and airlifted to a local hospital. Another man was grazed in the leg.

Brittney Williams just moved to the area and says the crime is troubling.

"A lot of people have their kids out there and someone could have gotten shot," said Williams. " I'm not used to this, but I know this is not normal."

Police told Local 6 they also recovered several weapons from inside an apartment complex and are working to see if they are related.

Back in August, police say two victims were shot at the same complex. In that incident, police later found four men with several guns on them at a nearby gas station, but no arrests were made.

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to call the Cocoa Police Department at (321) 637-6310.
