Fire ignites, destroys Orlando home

Authorities investigate cause of fire

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities are investigating what sparked a fire that destroyed an Orange County home overnight on Tuesday.

The investigation involves both Orlando police and Orange County deputies at the home on Sprague Avenue.

As fire crews were checking the rest of the home they discovered drugs in another bedroom and called in Orange County deputies to start a new narcotics investigation.

A lit candle was also found in one of the bedrooms.

At the time of the fire, one man who lives at the home was inside and rushed to the hospital for smoke inhalation. He told fire crews he also has a bird and they saw the bird cage, but the bird has not been found.

The narcotics team has not said what illicit drugs or the amount was found in the home.

The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
