Police arrest more than a dozen SeaWorld Rose Bowl parade protesters

PETA activists taken into custody for protesting SeaWorld's Rose Bowl Parade float

PASADENA, Calif. – Police arrested more than a dozen PETA protesters for blocking SeaWorld's float at the 125th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena.

Activists from the organization brought signs and shouted in hopes of stopping the park's float from airing on the nationally televised Rose Bowl Parade.

PETA protesters accuse the park of animal cruelty and want SeaWorld to release its killer whales back into the wild. The organization also says the park used the parade to repair its image following the controversial documentary 'Blackfish' which focuses on whales in captivity.

"The float is a sham," says Ashley Palmer, PETA spokeswoman.

Since the documentary was released, several bands have canceled their planned appearances at the park.

SeaWorld calls the protest a publicity stunt.
