Comi USA recalls child safety seat
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Combi USA, Inc. is recalling the Coccoro, Zeus Turn, and Zeus 360 model child restraint systems because they do not fully meet federal guidelines.
Combi said those models, when tested as a complete child restraint system, do fully comply-- it's actually one part that doesn't. Consumers are encouraged to continue use of the Coccoro, Zeus Turn and Zeus 360 child restraints while awaiting the remedy kit described below.
The webbing used on the harness of the affected child restraints has an embedded plastic button that keeps the buckle tongues from sliding into the recesses of the restraint. That's the part that doesn't meet the federal guidelines because it affects the overall strength of the seat belt assembly, and in turn could potentially affect the overall performance of the child restraint in the event of a crash.
Combi said it has received no reports of accidents or injuries. No other car restraint models are affected.
The affected child restraints should not be returned to the Combi retailer. Combi said it will provide a free remedy kit and detailed instructions to all owners beginning on or before February 6, 2014.
