DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Police are piecing together the actions of a man who attacked nurses then killed himself inside Halifax Health.
Daytona Beach police said the incident started around 3:52 a.m. Sunday after they were called out for shots being fired at a moving car on Clyde Morris Boulevard.

Police said shortly thereafter another call was received about shots being fired inside of Halifax Health.
The investigation revealed that the man, later identified as 20-year-old Jonathan Rodriguez-Jeff, of Deltona, shot the glass door entrance to the Professional Building located at Halifax Health, police said.
Police said once inside, Jeff, who was a National Guardsman, made his way to the second floor of the hospital and confronted a nurse and patient inside a room.
Jeff asked them, "Do you guys want to die tonight?" police said.
At some point during the confrontation, police said Jeff struck two nurses with the butt of his shotgun.
Police said Jeff left the first room and entered a second room where he confronted another nurse and patient.
While in that room, police said Jeff committed suicide with his gun.
No patients were hurt and the nurses suffered minor injuries after being hit with the shotgun, police said.
Police put Halifax Health under lockdown during the incident.
A number of cars in the parking lot of the hospital were hit by the shotgun blast from Jeff, but police said no one was injured.
Halifax Health released a statement saying, "This morning an individual, being pursued by the Daytona Beach Police Department, broke into Halifax Health and ended his life. As the individual entered the Halifax Health campus, the entire facility was locked down. We are thankful no one was seriously injured. The Halifax Health security department, medical staff and the Daytona Beach Police Department did an exemplary job in minimizing the risk. All staff policies were followed. The safety of patients, visitors and staff is our number one priority."
