Burglars posing as deliverymen
Thieves hit 7 homes in Celebration this year
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Osceola County sheriff's deputies are searching for thieves posing as deliverymen who have burglarized at least seven homes in Celebration.
According to investigators, the thief knocks on the door to see if anyone is home. If someone answers, the burglar claims to have a delivery for someone with a different last name. If no one comes to the door, investigators say the thief walks around to the back of the house and breaks in.
One burglar was captured on a neighbor's surveillance camera leaving Celebration in a dark colored Dodge van driven by an accomplice.
Once inside the homes, deputies say the thieves look for small safes, jewelry, cash and firearms.
Authorities are reminding residents to keep their doors and windows locked, while removing unnecessary temptations from front porches, including bicycles.
Anyone with information about the Celebration burglaries is asked to call the Osceola County Sheriff's Office or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
