According to Volusia deputies, Deck went to her mother's home to pick up a puppy that belonged to her deceased child. Deck's mother told Deck she could take the puppy at a later time because her mother wanted to spend "some time" with her deceased granddaughter's puppy, the report stated.

Deck then began yelling at her mother and picked up the dog to leave when she was confronted by her stepfather and her mother, according to the report, causing a fight to break out that also involved neighbors.

Deputies said Deck grabbed her mother by her hair and used a knife during the attack. She was arrested on Friday morning at her Flagler County home and booked into the Flagler County Jail.
