Woman shot while carrying groceries to her Orlando home

Victim taken to hospital

ORLANDO, Fla. – A woman was shot Thursday evening at the Blossom Park Condominiums in Orlando, officials said.

Neighbors, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Local 6 they saw the woman taking groceries to her second-story home around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Then, they heard gunshots.

"All I seen was people running. It was crazy. I seen a woman laying down on the staircase," said Harrison Flores, who just arrived home when the bullets started flying. "She got shot. Dude was running toward the highway."

Deputies said the woman was seriously injured and rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

"Everybody, people were trying to help her, trying to keep her alive and awake and aware of everything. Letting her know that help is on the way," said Thomas. "An innocent person shouldn't get shot like that."

Deputies, neighbors, and the victim's live-in boyfriend are all giving conflicting statements about what happened. The boyfriend told Local 6 that two men fired shots at he and his girlfriend as they came home. He says he did not return fire.

Investigators questioned him after the gunfire, but he was later released. They say they are looking for at least one other man that may have been involved.

Deputies said they still have a lot of work to do before deciding on charges.
