Port Orange student recognized in severe weather poster contest

Cypress Creek Elementary student among winners

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A Central Florida elementary school student was named one of the winners in the 2014 Severe Weather Awareness Week poster contest.

Veronia Sadek of Cypress Creek Elementary School in Port Orange was one of the winners, according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management, which announced the winners of the poster contest Monday.

Other selected winners were in Tallahassee, Ponte Vedra, Davenport, Cape Coral and Miami.

The Severe Weather Awareness Week Video PSA contest finalists were announced last week. The public is encouraged to take part in selecting the winner. To vote, visit the Kids Get A Plan Facebook page, www.facebook.com/KidsGetAPlan. The six finalist videos are available under the "video" section. Floridians can vote for their favorite by "liking" the video on the page.
