Suspects already in custody on other charges

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Two charged in last year's fatal shooting of a 25-year-old Deltona man were taken into custody this week.

Antwan Harris was shot late on the evening of Jan. 1, 2013 in the 900 block of South Parsons Avenue. He died 40 minutes after being dropped off at Florida Hospital DeLand.

Investigators linked the house where Harris was shot to one of the suspects in the shooting, 33-year-old Fredrick Smith. His accused accomplice is 38-year-old Anwar Green.

Sheriff's investigators said there had been bad blood brewing between the defendants and the victim prior to the shooting.

Investigators obtained arrests warrants for both Green and Smith on Feb. 28 and charged them each with 2nd degree murder. At the time, both men were already in state custody on unrelated charges.

Both are being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach without bond.
