Masked gunman shoots woman in buttocks at Orlando apartment complex

Police investigate after a woman was shot in the butt in Orlando.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Gainesville woman on spring break was shot twice in the buttocks by a masked gunman early Friday at an Orlando apartment complex.

The woman was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable condition after the shooting, which occurred around 3:45 a.m. at the Ivey Lane Apartments, south of State Road 408 near Lake Mann.

According to Orlando police, the woman, who's in her 30s, was returning from a party when she was approached by a man wearing a white mask.  After a brief conversation, he shot her while she was walking away, police said.

The woman told police she head three or four shots and saw the masked man run away. 

She also told police that the man didn't touch her, but a witness said the man hid behind a tree and grabbed the woman, who struggled with the gunman.  The witness said she ran off when she heard the gunshots, according to police.

The victim called 911 from her sister's apartment, where blood was found on the floor and a bed, police said.

A detailed description of the assailant was not released.
