Strong storms move across Central Florida

Minimal damage reported as storms move across area

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The National Weather Service issued several severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings across Central Florida after reports of tornado activity was reported in the storms.

The storms moved in from the Gulf and produced heavy winds that moved quickly across the state.

Orange County Fire Rescue officials reported very minimal damage with the worst of it concentrated in the Lake Nona area.

Officials said power lines were blown down in a few areas and trees were reported to be knocked over.

Firefighters said there was a report of a lightning strike to a house on Judy Street near downtown Orlando, but no one was home at the time of the fire and they were able to extinguish the flames quickly.
