POLK CITY, Fla. – A man was killed Monday morning after he jumped off an overpass onto Interstate 4 and was struck by a vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

I-4 eastbound was closed near Polk Parkway after the 32-year-old man, whose name has not been released, jumped off the State Road 559 overpass. The roadway later reopened.
According to troopers, the man jumped off the overpass around 7 a.m. and was struck by a pickup truck. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford F-150 was not injured, the FHP said.
Traffic was detoured at S.R. 559, which is near mile marker 44. Vehicles re-entered onto eastbound I-4 by using the S.R. 559 entrance ramp, the FHP said.
Troopers initially said two vehicles struck the man after he jumped.
No other details were immediately known.
