SunRail to offer free rides in May

Free-trial period available to SunRail passengers in May

ORLANDO, Fla. – During its first two weeks of operation, SunRail will provide free rides to its passengers.

Central Florida's new commuter rail system is slated to provide free rides from May 1 to May 16, with revenue service for passengers beginning on May 19.

The free service is intended to familiarize passengers with the new means of transportation, as well as acclimating them with the SunRail schedules.

Passengers who have questions about the services can ask SunRail ambassadors, who will be available at each station during the free-trial period and several weeks following. Ambassadors will also assist with pass purchases at the ticket vending machines on each platform and explain the "Tap On, Tap Off" method of ticket validation.

These ambassadors will be wearing black Polos with a SunRail logo so they can easily be identified by passengers.

The Florida Department of Safety reminds motorists and pedestrians to use caution and obey all railroad traffic signals, and to look both ways before approaching the railroad crossing and accessing SunRail platforms.
