Baby dolphin born at Discovery Cove Orlando

Birth marks 28th calf at Discovery Cove

ORLANDO, Fla. – Discovery Cove in Orlando recently welcomed the newest addition to its family of dolphins.

On March 18, the 28th baby Atlantic bottlenose dolphin was born at the facility since it opened in 2000. The female calf now weighs 48 pounds and measures at 47 inches in length.

The calf is the fourth from her mother Natalie, and the two dolphins are receiving around-the-clock care from the Discovery Cove zoological team along with another mother-calf duo. According to a release, the baby has been nursing and bonding with her mother.

A neonatal wellness exam was performed on the calf a week after she was born, and Discovery Cove did not report any health issues.
