Steam locomotive makes special trip to Winter Garden

Train one weekend only

TAVARES, Fla. – You may have seen steam heading down the railroad tracks in Orange County to Winter Garden Thursday.

It's all because the Orange Blossom Cannonball, owned by the Tavares, Eustis & Gulf Railroad was deadheading a trip there to prepare for its special excursions this weekend.

It's all part of this weekend's Flower and Garden Festival there.

The train will make 70-minute runs to Winter Garden's Central Florida Railroad Museum station at 101 South Boyd.

It will stop at the Lions Club Depot at 108 Taylor Street in Ocoee, as well.

It's the first time the Cannonball will make this excursion since the 1950s. You can buy tickets to take a ride for $20 for adults, $15 for kids ages 4 through 12 and kids under 4 are free.

The locomotive usually runs from Tavares to Eustis, but beginning later this month, will begin daily runs to Mount Dora (excluding Mondays).

Tickets on weekends are $35 for adults, $24 for kids 4-12 and free for kids under 4. Tuesday through Friday you can take the same voyage on a diesel train with ticket prices at $25 for adults and $16 for kids 4-12.
