Woman arrested in fatal hit-and-run that killed disabled man in Osceola County

Giselle Saez-Castellano faces charges of leaving scene of crash

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers made an arrest Wednesday in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 65-year-old disabled man.

Troopers arrested Giselle Saez-Castellano on felony charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death after Rafael Cotto was found lying in the shoulder of Highway 441 early Sunday morning.

Saez-Castellano, 27, was being taken to the Osceola County Jail on Wednesday afternoon.  She later posted bond and was released.

Troopers said Cotto was walking southbound on U.S. 441 on the west shoulder, out of the roadway, when the vehicle struck him, throwing him further off the shoulder.

Saez-Castellano's Kia Spectra was found abandoned Monday in an apartment complex near the accident site.

Saez-Castellano told troopers said she was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash and that she dozed off, drifted off the roadway and struck a pole, according to the report.

Records show she has had two separate license suspensions since she obtained her license in 2011 and was given a violation for driving on a suspended license in 2012. Her license was valid at the time of the crash.
