Caryn Kelly trial to be spotlighted on '48 Hours' on Local 6

'48 Hours' airs Saturday at 10 p.m.

Caryn Kelly, the College Park woman once accused of killing her boyfriend, takes the spotlight on national television, this weekend.

CBS News' "48 Hours" spotlights the shooting death of Phillip Peatross and the trial that followed at the Orange County Courthouse in Orlando.

Peatross was shot and killed in July, 2011, at Kelly's College Park home.

At first, Kelly told authorities she thought she shot an intruder who had broken into her home around 4:45 in the morning.

Her story later changed, when she told authorities her boyfriend, Peatross, surprised her in her bedroom that morning.  She said he had been drinking.

She told authorities she had drawn her gun, not knowing who was in her house.  She claimed Peatross took the gun away from her and shot himself in the head.

Kelly was eventually charged with second-degree manslaughter and faced a trial in 2013.

The story of Peatross' death and Kelly's trial will be featured on "48 Hours," which airs on Local 6 at 10 p.m. on Saturday night.
