Man wants cremated remains placed in mayonnaise jar

Company honors final wish by sending custom-made jars

GASTONIA, N.C. – A North Carolina man is taking his love of food right to the grave.

Larry Clinton is a fanatic for Duke's mayonnaise and puts the condiment on pretty much everything.

"Your bologna sandwich, banana sandwich," Clinton said, "I put it on peaches and pears and with cheese."

Clinton loves the condiment so much he told his family when the time comes, he wanted his cremated remains placed in a Duke's mayonnaise jar.

After several laughs, Clinton's daughter decided it was a wish she was going to make come true. She contacted Duke's parent company and got quite the surprise.

"I get an email from the executive VP of CF Sauer saying that they would be honored," Clinton's daughter Teresa said.

The company sent two glass jars decorated with custom-made labels with Clinton's full name.

"One thing you have to know is I'm not afraid of death," Clinton said.
