Orlando Magic to use Google Glass

Performers wear Glass to give unique perspective of game

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando Magic fans will get a unique perspective of in-game action when the team uses Google Glass for the first time.

Magic CEO Alex Martins announced Thursday Magic talent and performers would wear Google Glass during the team's matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, April 9.

Performers will capture the in-game action in real time and stream the first-person views through Magic Vision, the Amway Center's high definition video board.

"Google Glass and CrowdOptic provide a unique and organic opportunity for fans to see a different viewpoint of the game," Martins said. "We are excited to test this technology with some of the savviest fans in the league."

CrowdOptic, a software platform, will facilitate the live stream of in-game action. The software is able to choose the best quality live footage and send it to the video board.

The Sacramento Kings were the first team to integrate Google Glass into live game action. Players also wore Google Glass during practice to give new perspectives of shootarounds and dunks.

If the Magic's Google Glass experiment is successful, the team plans to use it at future games to capture fan reactions to winning prizes.
