ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police and the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating after a bicyclist was hit and killed Friday night in downtown Orlando.
Officers said a blue Honda was traveling west on E. Colonial Drive just before 10 p.m.

As the driver approached the intersection at Hamilton Avenue, 44-year-old Don Volkman was attempting to cross at the crosswalk with his bicycle.
Investigators said the Honda struck Volkman and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver initially fled the scene, but did return while officers were investigating. The driver's name is not being released at this time, but officers are saying the driver is a 26-year-old woman.
This is an ongoing investigation. Charges are pending as investigators work to determine if alcohol was a factor.
