LOCKHART, Fla. – Two men were arrested early Wednesday after getting into an altercation with deputies near the Orange-Seminole county line.

According to officials, a caller reported suspicious activity around 3 a.m. near the "mud pit," an area near Pemberton Drive and State Road 414 that's known for drug activity.

An Orange County sheriff's deputy and a Seminole County sheriff's deputy responded to the call and found two men who appeared to be smoking drugs, officials said.

While questioning the men, some sort of altercation broke out, prompting the deputies to use a stun gun and pepper spray on one of them, officials said.  That man was able to run off, while the other was taken into custody, according to officials.

A search using K-9s and a helicopter located the man about an hour later.  He was taken to a hospital after being bitten by a K-9, officials said.

The deputies were not injured.

Both men faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer.
