Man arrested after stabbing ex-girlfriend's stepfather, Volusia deputies say

Cops say daughter knocked unconscious trying to break up fight


DELTONA, Fla. – Volusia County deputies have arrested a man on Thursday morning after they say he stabbed his ex-girlfriend's father during an altercation.

Bryan Padilla, 19, has been charged with attempted murder after the stabbing attack at a home on Ancho Court at around 6:30 a.m.

According to deputies, an 18-year-old woman told deputies she woke up to noises of a struggle and found her ex-boyfriend, Padilla, in a physical fight with her father. When she tried to stop the fight, she was knocked unconscious, deputies said.

When the woman woke up, she found her father had been stabbed multiple times in the abdomen and the head, the report stated. She was chased by Padilla before he got into his car and fled the scene.

Padilla was arrested at the intersection of Howland Boulevard and Catalina Boulevard just before 8 a.m.

The woman's father was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach and is expected to survive.
