According to the FHP, a Honda Civic was headed eastbound on S.R. 50 when a man walked into the vehicle's path.  The man was not in a crosswalk, troopers said.

The Civic struck the man, who crashed into the vehicle's windshield, according to the FHP, which said a Toyota Camry then ran over the man's body.

The pedestrian, who did not have any identification on him, died.  He was only described by the FHP as a white man past middle age.

Witnesses said groceries were seen on the roadway, which was closed during an investigation but later reopened.
