Deputies: Man arrested after Winter Springs bank robbery

Man led authorities on short manhunt in Oviedo after robbery

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – A man has been arrested after robbing a bank in Winter Springs and then leading police on a short manhunt into Oviedo.

Winter Springs police said shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, 911 calls started coming into their communication center regarding a bank robbery occurring at the Bank of America off State Road 434.

The man passed a note to the teller demanding money. Once the man received the money he drove away from the bank in a light blue PT Cruiser, police said.

Officers quickly responded and found the man's vehicle in the area but did not pursue once the man started driving recklessly.

The man was also believed to have been involved in a minor traffic accident during this time on SR 434 near SR 417.

After a witness had alerted officers to a possible location of the suspect and the vehicle in near State Road 417 in Oviedo, a Seminole County deputy along with Winter Springs police officers were able to catch up to the vehicle and take the man into custody.

The man, later identified as Kilpatrick Holton, is being charged with robbery, grand theft, fleeing and eluding and leaving the scene of a traffic crash.
