Massage worker inappropriately touched client, Daytona Beach police say

Dream Health Spa worker charged with battery

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A worker at a massage parlor was arrested after, according to Daytona Beach police, he touched a client inappropriately during a massage.

Liang Liu, 59, a masseur at Dream Health Spa at the Volusia Mall, was arrested on charges of battery in the Saturday night incident.

According to an arrest report, the woman said she was 40 minutes into the massage when Liu helped her turn over on her back and began touching her inappropriately.

The woman, who didn't want to be identified, told Local 6, "First half hour was fine. He did my back, my shoulders. Motioned me to flip over and proceeded to continue with the massage."

Shortly after, however, he inappropriately touched her, the woman said.

"Please don't touch, don't touch me there. I don't want you to touch me there [...] and he pushed me and said, 'No, no, I do for you.'"

In a 911 call released Tuesday, the woman's boyfriend told the dispatcher, "I advise you to send a couple officers (to the massage parlor) or you might as well send a coroner van."

Local 6 spoke to Liu, who was at the parlor on Monday, and he denied advancing on his client.

"This lady, I don't know why she called the police," said Liu's co-worker.

"She says you were touching her in her private areas," Local 6's Sheli Muniz asked.

"No, no, no," responded Liu.

Muniz told the alleged victim that Liu was back at work after getting out of jail with a $500 bond for battery.

"That's the first I'm hearing of that right now and that concerns me," she said. "When you violate that trust, you have now made it difficult for me to go to anybody and completely relax on a table. What about all the other people that are going there, are you treating them like that?"

Police said the state attorney's office found that the battery charge didn't meet criteria necessary for Liu to be charged with a sex crime.

The alleged victim is hoping other people come forward if they too have been touched inappropriately by Liu.
