Man shot son in chest following argument, Volusia deputies say

Victim suffers non-life-threatening injuries

DeLAND, Fla. – A man shot his adult son in the chest overnight in DeLand after an argument, according to deputies.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said the shooting victim was taken to a hospital by a family member before being transported to Halifax Health in Daytona Beach.  He suffered non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

According to deputies, the man shot his son with a .22-caliber handgun following a verbal confrontation.
