Possible cross-dresser sought in theft of 18 TVs from Walmart

Casselberry police search for 2 culprits

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – Surveillance video from inside a Walmart shows just how quick these two thieves were able to steal 18 TV's worth more than $10,000 over the course of five weeks.

Casselberry police say one of the suspects could be a man dressed as a woman.

Police say they snuck the TV's out one or two at a time through the closed garden center. The thieves would then stand on top of metal shelving and then hoist the TV's out of the fabric panels that make up the ceiling.

"The first thing I think of is there is an employee behind it for someone to be able to walk right out?," says Michelle Jarrell, a shopper. "You would think there's more security than that."

A Walmart spokesperson says the suspects targeted the store after midnight when the staff is smaller and the garden center is closed. A store security officer reviewing video saw the TV's being taken. Investigators say the suspects changed their appearance between thefts, but the video caught what they look like. And now investigators are hoping someone recognizes them.

"Somebody dressed up as a woman that's gonna bring attention. People walking out with two TV's at a time that's very strange," says Jarrell.
