1 airlifted after airboat crashes, flips over in Brevard County

Brevard County Fire Rescue investigates

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – At least one person has been airlifted after an airboat flipped and crashed in Brevard County, fire officials say.

The collision occurred on the St. John's River north of Lone Cabbage Fish Camp on State Road 520.

One of the two people on board was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center, Brevard County Fire Rescue said.

Jeff Nasworthy, the brother of the man who was airlifted, told Local 6 his brother, Waldo, was unconscious for more than 10 minutes after the airboat flipped.

"All I remember is that he lost a little bit on a corner, it hit the bank and rolled over the bank and I was ejected and he was ejected," Jeff Nasworthy said. "I didn't remember most of it so that was pretty much it."

Waldo Nasworthy was driving the airboat, which Florida Fish and Wildlife officials say was the brothers' second ride on the newly refurbished boat.

Jeff Nasworthy said he landed in the water after the airboat flipped, but his brother landed on the bank.

No other details were immediately available.
