Altamonte Springs police release sketch of man sought in attempted kidnapping

Teen says man grabbed her inside apartment complex

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Altamonte Springs police released a composite sketch Tuesday of the man they say tried to abduct a 14-year-old girl over the weekend.

The girl said the man jumped out of his silver van and came at her inside the Spring Lake Hills Apartments in Altamonte Springs on Wymore Road.

"He grabbed my arm and started pulling me and I slapped him off, pulled his arm off me and ran to my grandma's house," the girl told Local 6 on Monday.

Tuesday, the girl's father said she spent more than hour at the police department working with detectives on the composite sketch.

"It doesn't even seem like a guy that would do something like that. I tell everybody I see, 'He doesn't have to look like a monster to act like one,'" said Manny Soltren, the girl's father.

Soltren is now on a mission to make sure all his neighbors in Altamonte Springs see the composite sketch.

"I walk all the time and when I just walked today, I'm looking for the van, that gray van with the dent, and I didn't see it," said Miriam Soltren, the girl's aunt, who also lives in the same complex.

The girl told her parents about the attempted kidnapping Sunday and they contacted police.

The teen said the man was speaking a different language, possibly Spanish.
