Teacher forgets to hang up, insults student

Teacher: Mom 'probably wipes his butt'

ELYRIA, Ohio – An Ohio kindergarten teacher didn't realize her comments about a student were being recorded because she never hung up the phone.

The Crestwood Elementary School teacher called Ashley Moore to discuss her son's performance in class. After leaving a voicemail, the teacher didn't hang up the phone and continued to talk about Moore's son with a co-worker.

"He has no common sense," the teacher can be heard saying on the voicemail. "He was seven in May and he's the biggest baby in my group. She still probably wipes his butt."

Moore says she immediately pulled her son out of school and will switch him to a new school.

"I was very angry," Moore told WOIO-TV. "He's afraid. He does not want to go back to her."

Moore says her son had asked to not go back to the teacher's class for three months.

Elyria School District issued a statement to WOIO-TV, saying the teacher's actions "have been addressed."

"Her actions certainly don't represent the district's philosophy or the partnerships we have with our parents," the district said in a statement. "The teacher regrets what she said and is apologetic."

Moore was skeptical of the apology.

"The only reason she would be apologizing is that she got caught," Moore said.
