KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A Kissimmee family is making school history with seven family members graduating from Florida Technical College next week.
The family members have studied in several different fields including culinary arts and a medical assistant program.
Davie Albarran, the family's patriarch, said it was strange at first attending classes with some of his closest family members.
"Two of my daughters in the same school -- I was like, 'How do I treat them? As a little kid or as a grownup?'" said Albarran.
But when Sonia Perez had trouble balancing work and school, the support of her family kept her going.
Yaneiry Montes said she encouraged Perez, her mom, dad, sister, aunts and cousin to go back to school. They all enrolled around the same time and their programs share a graduation.
"We wanted everybody to hang in there, to finish. We wanted to finish as a family," said Montes.
The family will graduate next Friday at a ceremony at the Wyndham in Orlando.
