ST. CLOUD, Fla. – A 9-year-old boy who was attacked by an alligator in a St. Cloud lake will have more than a dozen staples removed from his body.

James Barney Jr. told Local 6 he got hot while riding his bike last week, so he decided to go to East Lake Toho to take a swim.  In the water, he said he felt something touch him, and he thought someone was playing with him underwater.  Then, a 9-foot gator bit down on him.

James had 30 teeth marks across his chest and back and scratch marks from the fight.

Trappers never caught the gator, but the swimming area at Lake Front Park was reopened this week.
