Florida Primary Election: Key races to watch

2 who took on causes run for office in DeLand, DeBary

Two people who have taken on different causes recently are now running for public office in the Primary Election Tuesday.

Krystal Brown fought to have video released that shows the death of her ex-husband Marlon Brown, who was run over by a DeLand police officer.

Now Brown is running for DeLand City commissioner and faces challenger Jessica Davis, who is currently a career counselor for at-risk teens.

Ashleigh Hart's battle to change an ordinance that would allow her to keep a chicken that she says helped her autistic son's development also made headlines. She says the public battle made her realize the power of public office.

She is running for seat three of DeBary City Council and faces two challengers, Mike Brady and Marshall Lee.

In the last year two unflattering videos have surfaced of Daytona Beach Commissioner Carl Lentz, but they haven't stopped him for running for re-election.

In one video, Lentz is in a fight in a restaurant and in the other he was accused of propositioning a waitress in a strip club for sex.

He faces two challengers, Andrew J. Moore and Ruth Trager.
